Big Horn River Float

Thermopolis, WY

Saturday, 13 June, 2026

Come join us for a day at Thermopolis State Park! Float the Bighorn River from Wedding of the Waters to the State Park, then we’ll be hanging out and grilling lunch in the park! Requested contribution for this day of activities and lunch is $10. Starting and ending in Worland, WY (or meet us at Thermop!).

Full and partial scholarships available for any En Gedi Project activity.

Timeline:

  • 8:30am: carpools meet at the Old Library (1019 Coburn Ave., Worland, WY)

  • 9:15am: meet at the large picnic shelter near the boat ramp in Hot Springs State Park

  • 9:20am: caravan to Wedding of the Waters - prepare to launch watercraft, inflate tubes, etc.

  • 10:00am: Begin Float

  • 12:00-1:00pm: end float, lunch at the pavilion​

  • 2:30pm return to Worland

We will provide:

  • floatation device (innertubes or canoes) (innertubes have you more in the water, can be clipped together with your friends or family members, and are slower (~3hrs). Canoes are considerably faster (~2hrs) and can hold between 1 and 4 people (if two are small kids).

  • paddles

  • life jackets

  • sunscreen

  • granola bar and string cheese for snack at the boat launch

  • lunch

    • bbq chicken sandwiches​

    • coleslaw

    • hotdogs

    • watermelon

    • chips

    • cold drinks

    • cookies

  • shuttle to start/end of float​

You should bring:

  • clothing and footwear appropriate for weather and water recreation (water shoes or sandals)

  • water bottle or drinks for float

  • sun hat

  • $10 if able to contribute

  • signed release form if none on file for 2026 (linked below, or we will have hard copies on hand morning of)

You might bring:

  • your own floatation device or lifejacket if you prefer

  • sunglasses

  • fishing gear

  • swimming attire
