Bikepacking

Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, Montana

14 -23 July, 2026

Bikepacking is self-supported mountain bike camping over dirt roads and trails – our gear is carried on the bike or in a trailer behind the bike. This is a great introduction to bikepacking, on the northern stretches of the world-famous Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, which goes from the US/Canada border to Mexico. We plan to cover the 275 miles or so from Helena to Lima in Montana. Planning to cover only 30-40 miles per day, over eight riding days, with a support vehicle nearby in case of need, this is a very accessible way to experience this unique and fun way to travel and camp! $500 requested contribution ($125 for Bighorn Basin residents) for this ten-day trip. Caravan starting and ending in Worland, WY. It is possible to coordinate joining us for part of this trip as well.

Full and partial scholarships available for any En Gedi Project activity.

The packing list below is an example list - there are lots of ways to set up for bikepacking. We have gear to loan, including mountain bike trailers and bikepacking luggage. If you are interested in the trip and not familiar with the gear, just let us know and we will get together and come up with the right plan for you!
